When Lotus revealed the Emira back in July, pricing for the British market indicated that it would come in under $80,ooo. Today, Lotus has confirmed that price: The base Emira will start at $74, 900 in the U.S. market.
Those wanting the most affordable Emira possible will have to wait, however. The first production run of Emiras will be V-6-spec Launch Edition cars. These variants start at $93,600, but they boast a manual transmission and various performance options as standard. One of these, the Drivers Pack, comes with an optional set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. These cars start production in fall 2022, with another First Edition powered by the AMG-sourced four-cylinder coming later that year.
If you can wait until 2023, the base Emira will debut at $74,900. That puts it $14,400 above where Porsche currently lists the base Cayman, its chief North American competition, but that car boasts just 300 hp. The Emira competes more directly with the Cayman S and GTS 4.0, which start at $72,500 and $87,400, respectively. Option pricing will figure into how the cars compare in most real-world buying situations, but Emira options won't be fully explorable until the car's online configurator is updated on October 18.
The Emira replaces all of the current Lotus line by uniting the simplicity of the Elise, the performance bona fides of the Exige, and the grand touring traits of the Evora in a more modern platform. It will be Lotus's last gasoline-powered car before an all-electric future, but that future will have space for an electric car that shares its spirit.
