Update: Car Corral cancelled, but races are still on!
NoVA Lotus got the invitation below (thanks to Tyler Pepin!) to come observe the Labor Day Race Weekend -
The Washington D.C. Region of the Sports Car Club of America (WDCR SCCA) is back in full swing this year after we took a temporary COVID hiatus with spectators, but I'm happy to report that we have restarted our 'Car Corral' program at our MARRS road racing events! I'm reaching out to see if the Lotus club would be interested in participating in an upcoming Car Corral/spectator event next month.
We had a very successful return to the Car Corral program in July, and are hoping to recreate the magic of yesteryear with an Italian Job #2, the sequel. This is a riff on an event we did 2 years ago where we had about 50 exotic cars out to the track to show off and watch some racing. We're inviting local Italian/exotic clubs to participate again at our upcoming Road race September 4th-6th. Exact date is TBD for this weekend, and will be held at Summit Point Motorsports Park in Summit Point, WV.
Quick run down of our WDCR Car Corrals:
1. Free entry to the race track, come out and watch some racing!
2. Reserved corral area outside turn 9 at Summit Point - Main track
3. We provide water, sodas, and snacks
4. Lunchtime ride around laps behind the pace car – great for family and kids (limited to 25 cars)
5. Group photo opportunities on the front straight
6. Access to the paddock, and opportunity for some of our racers to bring their cars and talk about them.

Car Corral cancelled, but races are still on!
I got this email from SCCA on 08/18/21:
Good morning!
I wanted to provide a quick update to you regarding our planning for the Italian Job Car Corral at our upcoming WDCR SCCA Labor Day MARRS road race. Due to logistical issues, COVID-19, and limited expressed interest we have decided to postpone this event until 2022. I really appreciate your interest, and we hope we can resume hosting this Car Corral next year!
In light of this, we would still like to encourage your club members to come out to Summit Point during Labor Day weekend. This is our biggest local road racing event of the year, and the on-track action will be spectacular! If you have members interested in attending as spectators, please have them contact me directly. We will work with our staff and the facility to accommodate them.
Thanks!
