This Lotus 30 was first created in 1965, meant to compete in Group 4 and Can-Am racing. Unlike previous Lotus sports racers, which were tube-framed, the 30 used a 'pickle fork' backbone chassis. This chassis design was later used in the Europa and Esprit road cars. In the 30, the engine was a ~400hp 4.7 liter Ford V8. As it turns out, the chassis could not handle the power - the 30 was not a racing success. It is a gorgeous design, though!
