If I were a betting man, I'd bet that Lotus still made cars or something. www.lotuscars.com/elise-cup-260There are some very nice touches to this "Baby Exige".

It sure looks pretty sweet both on paper (specs) and in photos!

I wish I knew their rationale for sticking with an exhaust that ruins the effect of the diffuser, especially when so much headline space is going towards downforce lately. Maybe the oval tip is less disruptive than the dual outlet originally?

Maybe the oval tip is less disruptive than the dual outlet originally? I'm fairly confident that the design choice is dictated by the packaging at the rear of the car. In order for them to "properly" route the exhaust, the engine bay would have to be fairly significantly lengthened or the boot area reduced.

You and I have properly routed exhaust without any changes to the boot though

Isn't the boot on the S2 a lot bigger than the S1? I always thought that it was part of the reason why.
I did some reading a while back where an aerodynamicist said that the diffuser itself didn't really make that much of a difference in downforce production. This is a 'well no shit' statement, but it's ALL the aerodynamic devices that worked together that made the downforce. So with all the style elements and missing aero devices... it doesn't matter that much anyway.
