I learned this on Harry Metcalfe's 'Factory collection of my Lotus Emira' video, posted by Kevin. As it turns out, China already has a car company named 'Lotus', so Lotus had to be registered there as 'Lotus Nyo', or 'new Lotus'. --Bob Collum

A picture from the LOG 41 concours - photo credit to Richard Parramint. This is the one pic I have found, that shows our Seven (front-left of the picture), and our Elise (near the top-right of the picture - you can see the red-over-white rear of our Elise, framed by a yellow and a Storm Titanium Elise). Thanks, Richard! --Bob Collum

Not exactly a new comparison, but I sat in a Tesla Roadster the other day and thought I'd take a similar shot while sitting in my Elise:

Woo-Hoo! Thursday, March 16th, 2023... It's 64 degrees, sunny, and no gale-force winds! That means, it's time for spring cleaning of the Elise! --Bob Collum Before: After:

Friend of the club Bob Williams is a long-time car guy. He has a variety of cars, but mostly Porsches. He helped me with a couple of issues I had with my Caterham, and I asked if he wanted to drive my Seven. He readily agreed; now he's hooked! All his cars are massively more powerful; now he knows what a difference ultra-light weight makes. --Bob Collum

I had just finished washing the Elise this morning when a friend stopped by with his 911 992:

Addition to the veggie garden. Windmill based on the Lotus 25. Neat is that the wheels are left and right-specific such that when they catch the wind the wheels each spin forward.

I saw this on Facebook this week - YIKES! A serious accident, for sure, but it said both passengers survived. This was somewhere in the Denver, Colorado area. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!! --Bob Collum P.S.: People are already searching the web for parts from this wreck...

A photo from Goodwood Festival of Speed, courtesy of NoVA Lotus friend, Richard Parramint. This year's event celebrated 75 years of Porsche motorsport. The automotive display on the front lawn of Goodwood Manor is a tradition at the event. (Lotus had a display of their cars there in 2012.) This year, for the first time in the 30 years they have held the Festival of Speed, they had to suspend the event on Saturday, July 15/23. because of high winds in the area. If you ever have the chance, you should plan to attend a Goodwood event. They have the Festival of Speed every year, in July. This event is centered around a 'hillclimb' by many different vehicles - motorcycles, road cars, all type of competition cars - all going up the 1.16-mile-long Goodwood driveway. {It's good to be the Duke of Richmond, owner of Goodwood Estate!) The Festival of Speed is always held a week before or after the British Grand Prix, and is close to the same time as Wimbledon tennis every year. In 2011, Debbie and I attended two days of Wimbledon, for her birthday, and did 3 days at Goodwood for my birthday. It was a GREAT trip! My next birthday wish is to go to the Goodwood Revival, which is a quite different event. The Revival is centered around the Goodwood track, which was the site of non-championship F1 races, from 1949 thru 1965. As a way to commemorate that period, attendees are encouraged to dress in clothing from that period - in fact, anyone wearing clothing from that era is allowed full access to all areas of the event. As a result, you will see people wearing WW2 uniforms, as well as 1950's styles, such as poodle skirts, and leather jackets, and early-60's mod outfits. Vintage races on the old Goodwood circuit take the place of the hillclimb, and the large open area is used as an airstrip for WWII-vintage airplanes, just as the same area was used during that war. The Goodwood Revival is held in early September. If you are interested in either of these Goodwood events for 2024, contact Richard Parramint, richard@positivespeech.co.uk He runs tours of both Goodwood events, and includes tours of Lotus facilities in Hethel. Richard does an amazing job with tours! --Bob Collum

That's awesome that both people survived!
