Hi All - I’ve really enjoyed being part of the club for the past year since picking up my Seven, but with a surprise second kid on the way unfortunately the fun car needs to find a new home, and I figured I’d share here before turning to BaT etc.
It’s a 1996 Caterham Super Seven for the US market, with the 1.7L Ford Crossflow engine, twin Weber carburetors, and a four speed manual. As pure a driving experience as a Seven always is, it’s even more pure and analog with this engine roaring in front of you. It has the classic 13” Minilite-style wheels, green exterior with the yellow nose cone, a black interior and black FIA/track day roll bar. It also has four point harnesses and a quick release steering wheel, and has the standard chassis (as opposed to the enlarged SV model).
The Crossflow was refreshed in 2019 under the prior owner, and after I picked it up I had AutoStop Elite refresh much of the electronics, including a new alternator, battery, ignition, and wiring. The choke was deleted under prior ownership, but the car has had no trouble firing up even in the colder winter temperatures. I’d hoped to do some autocross this season, but unfortunately have not had (and now won’t have) an opportunity to do so; I believe the prior owner did not track it either, though the first owner may have (it has an SCCA sticker). It is in good condition but not a show car — its meant to be driven! It has some chips in the paint and a small crack in the left rear fiberglass fender (the bandaid is from the prior owner, but I love it). Biggest item on my to-do list would be doing some fine tuning of the carburetors, but it drives great and pulls strong.
More details are in the prior BaT listing here: bringatrailer.com/listing/caterham-super-seven-4/ and I’ll try to add some photos once I can figure out how to get them the right size. Happy to find a time to show the car to anyone who wants to check it out most Fridays-Mondays, and I’m in Annandale VA. Best way to reach me is email: Greeley.sj@gmail.com.
Hope it can find a great new home!
