A Message from our President:
Folks,
Thanks everybody has reached out to me over the past eight weeks. Support from friends has been incredibly comforting.
We all look forward to getting together next weekend. I think it’s still important that we follow CDC guidelines; if you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask.
If you are vaccinated and your comfort level is low, wearing a mask is just fine with us.
If you are new to the club we welcome everyone. Even if you don’t have a Lotus, enthusiasts are welcome. We are very low-key group and encourage participation at every level.
I hope, come October, we are past the worst of this and may be able to gather at a social event at a local winery. We are open to suggestions for location.
Bull Run Winery is the first one that comes to mind.
See you soon,
Mark Franke

Upcoming events – (keep an eye on our website calendar; we try to keep many items of interest on there):
Sunday, August 15 GYLO 21 – Our 21st Get Your Lotus Out event. The last two, in 2020, were virtual. They were fun, but now we will be back in person, with Favorite Lotus contest (with prizes).
Saturday, Sept. 4 thru Monday, Sept. 6 – SCCA Race Weekend, with Car Corral and parade laps on Saturday, Sept. 4th. A maximum of 25 cars will be out on the track for parade laps at lunchtime on Sept. 4th.
Friday, Sept. 10th thru Monday, Sept. 13th – LOG 40 Our national club – Lotus, Ltd. will have our annual Lotus Owners Gathering in Salt Lake City. I’ve been told there will be an Evija there… and there MAY be an Emira prototype there.
Sunday, Sept. 19 – Britain on the Green – the DC Triumph club puts on a great car show, and we always have a good contingent of Lotus there. This year, a special display of important models of various British marques will be up front.
Representing classic Lotus models, Jenn and Tim Glahn have been asked to display their Elan, and Kevin McCracken’s Elise will represent modern Lotus models. Britain on the Green normally happens the last Sunday in April, but quarantine conditions forced the move to September for this year’s edition.
…as Mark says, we hope to be able to do a few in-person events, starting in October. Let us know if you have any ideas. As always, we encourage members to organize drives via the website – for instance, we sometimes have people organize a quick drive, before or after GYLO.
