A message from our president:
Folks,
I hope everyone has fared well over the last several months. This is been a difficult year for everyone. As a doc, I am optimistic that we will get past this pandemic with increasing numbers of folks getting vaccinated. Bob and I discussed future plans for the club, and we are both hopeful we can put a GYLO event together safely sometime around June or July – we will keep you updated. Let us know if there is an interest in a small event or two in the April/May timeframe.
We have been in contact with Richard Parramint, a Lotus friend in the UK. Richard has worked in many roles for Lotus directly. He is a huge Lotus enthusiast, and an accomplished public speaker. Richard can arrange a virtual tour of Classic Team Lotus in Hethel, UK for NoVA Lotus. Classic Team Lotus is a very impressive shop, run by Clive Chapman, (Colin’s son), and employs several ex-Team Lotus mechanics, restoring and maintaining all manner of Lotus competition cars. Richard has offered to put on a virtual tour for us, and he would arrange experts to chat with us about the cars. If we can get at least 40 people in the club interested, our cost would be $25 per head, and the virtual tour would last 90 minutes. You would see cars that are not available to be seen by the general public without a visit to the museum. Having done the tour before, I consider this to be a good value.
Please email Bob Collum if you are interested. If we get enough folks, this could be a viable venture to do probably in mid April.
I hope everyone is doing well we look forward to seeing you as soon as possible. Stay safe - get vaccinated!
All the best

During the lockdown, we have been busy, planning for the future. Kevin McKracken provides and administers our club website. He has added a couple of items to make the website more useful. First, he has added a new category - Member intros, updates & cars:
Member Intros, Updates and Cars | NoVA Lotus Club (freeforums.net)
We encourage everyone to post a bit of info, and we especially love to see pictures of your Lotus car(s).
One website section that does not get used enough is the Marketplace. You can buy or sell your Lotus car, or Lotus-related parts. Note: It would be VERY helpful to post when your item has sold. You can, alternatively, notify me if what you posted is no longer for sale.
Another category that could use more posts is Meets & Events. If you have even a small get-together in a parking lot, you can post it here to announce the event, and post pics afterward, to let us know what a good time you had.
A couple of tips I found useful, regarding posting on our website:
1. If you want to create a new post, the ‘Create Thread’ button, on the top-right of the page, will open up a blank page that you can type your post text into. When you complete your post, you must scroll down, and click the ‘Create Thread’ button, on the lower-right. This button is generally not visible when you open up the new thread. If you don’t click the ‘Create Thread’ button, it won’t post.
2. When attaching a photo to a thread, there are some limitations on the size of the photo you are attaching. I find that a photo I take with my SLR camera, and some phone photos, are too big to attach. The standard way around this limitation is to use a free photo storage site, like IMGUR. Using IMGUR, you can attach a good-quality, larger-format picture in your post. This will be especially important for posting a picture of your Lotus in the ‘Our Cars’ section of the new category ‘Member Intros, Updates & Cars’.
If there are any questions about posting in general, or posting photos in particular, send me and email, so I can assist you. We are working on a brief tutorial we can send to anyone wishing to attach photos.
Let us know if there’s anything else we could/should be doing as a club.
