This past Sunday, a guy I know that has a Beck Spyder showed me the fire suppression system he has in his car. I looked it up, and found this - www.amazon.com/BlazeCut-Automatic-Suppression-Automotive-Extinguisher/dp/B019ZZMXAAI don't know that it would be up to racing requirements, but if I still had my Europa, I would certainly place this over the carburetors, since they had a pipe running between them, which was directly over the exhaust manifold. Years ago, I knew a guy who lost his Europa to a gasoline fire. This looks like a reasonably-priced small bit of insurance, especially for an older car. This is just a pressurized hose, filled with fire suppression chemical. It has a heat sensor, and when it exceeds a certain temperature, a valve opens, and dumps the chemical. Below is a picture of the installation, the hose (which really is the whole unit) just attached to the inside of the engine cover of the Beck Spyder, with one end directly over his carburetor. What do you think? --Bob Collum

Here's a demonstration of the product.
It's a good idea that will fall short in a lot of ways in my opinion. One major downfall is how you install it. I'm guessing that you'll have to get a rather long one to get complete coverage on some cars. Obviously this will work better on certain engine bay configurations. Also, I don't believe any racing series would accept this either. At least the 2 that I'm aware of would not accept this (SCCA, Chumpcar).

Definitely looks interesting. Racing aside, with its simplicity, you could see folks installing this who might never have bothered with a more complex system. True that on effectiveness being dependent on at least config and install.
