So I am completely stripping and repainting my Elise this winter and adding a '10 Exige front end. The question then is what to do with my literal blank canvas. I've pretty much nailed it down to CO or Kawasaki Green (a la the Seinfeld Exige). The car was born Saffron or Solar Yellow, repainted House of Kolor Tangelo Orange, and then I had it (poorly) repainted to the Chrome Orange it is now. I like sticking with the Lotus colors, to the Kawasaki Green technically counts.

Considering that, just last Friday, while showing someone my car, we talked about Seinfeld's Krypton Green Exige, my vote is for Krypton/Kawasaki Green!

For the record, here is the ex-Seinfeld Exige, when it was at LOG in Gettysburg. It made the guys in Krypton Green cars feel 'less adequate'.

I have briefly considered Aubergine, but Jess wants to save that for a future Evora. She is hilariously opposed to having two cars of the same color and even didn't want me to get a burnt orange Mini for that same reason. Your two pictures of the Exige show my exact reservation - the first is somewhat flat compared to the second. The color seems to look wrap-like in direct light, and, for the money, I'd just wrap the car if they'll both look similar. I love the depth that Chrome Orange gets, but that's because it is a multistage paint (read: $$$). A single stage paint like Kawasaki Green would save me a couple grand.

Seinfeld's car is actually the only Lotus that color - it is slightly different from Krypton. Kawasaki is more "green" and is one of the actual paint codes used on the motorcycles. Supposedly, Lotus showed Seinfeld 4 different Kawasaki greens and he picked this one.

Personally I would pick Aubergine, but out of those, green for sure.

You can't go wrong with Chrome Orange... unless it's not Chrome Orange.
BTW, if you go with Krypton Green... I'll hate you for life.

I think Krypton and Isotope are too highlighter yellow for my tastes, so that's why I like Kawasaki so much.
Lotus gave me the Dupont paint code, too, so that's awesome.

That is, indeed, awesome that they gave you the code. Just a side note... years ago, when I was first looking for an Elise, I had only wanted CO and was so obsessed about it that I created a website: itmustbeorange.com/

I do think CO strikes the best balance of fun without being ostentatious. Lime green may tip the scale a bit...

So, for a color, is a decision still in the works? Or, is Kawasaki it? Or, do we wait for an unveiling? (only, the newborn may be too young to have hiding underneath the cover).

So, for a color, is a decision still in the works? Or, is Kawasaki it? Or, do we wait for an unveiling? (only, the newborn may be too young to have hiding underneath the cover). I'm leaning pretty heavily towards Kawasaki at this point, but, until I get all the paint stripped off, it is subject to change. Chrome Orange has just been such a nightmare to deal with since sooo many variables influence the final color and it is nearly impossible to get right. The Kawasaki green will be far easier since it is more opaque, and fewer layers of paint mean it is cheaper, too.
