One of the things that makes Katie's the most fun is the people - and what better people are there than Lotus people? Tyler Pepin joined me this morning, and Caleb & Jessica Yow showed up right after. The dark-blue Evora from Maryland was there again - I am sorry, I believe we have met, but I can't recall your name!

...quite a few really nice cars that I had not seen before! (My first-ever car was a '65 Corvair Turbo, so I have a soft spot for Corvairs…)

Nice NoVA Lotus representation! Wish I could have made it (out of town in Lexington, KY, where “horsepower” is all about actual horses).
That’s a terrific-looking Corvair.

Bob, you missed a Tesla backing into my front bumper! I might finally get the rest of my front clam fixed after all...

Bob, you missed a Tesla backing into my front bumper! I might finally get the rest of my front clam fixed after all... That's terrible! Was it a dealer or a Tesla owner? (We have a dealer who is there, most weeks.) That parking lot you were on is PLENTY big, they must not have been paying any attention! I see you already have done what I would do to my front clam - no silly fake-bumper-dimple, and no turn signals to flop out. I guess you can always delete the license plate plinth now. Sorry for the hassle! --Bob Collum

I think it was just an owner. I had parked on the shoulder of the exit waiting for Bryan, and this guy tried to parallel park right in front of me in a super tight spot.
In defense of the fake bumper, that's a crease from where the Elise clam is made of separate pieces in a mold. The Exige is handlaid instead and can be done in one piece, so it doesn't have the seam.

I always thought it was silly to have the bumper crease - now I know why! I think the Exige design did away with most of the small criticisms I have of my Elise - mostly, replacing the black plastic bits that always want to turn light gray. The black mesh looks better, and is certainly easier to care for.

I am going to D&V on Thursday, and USAA has agreed to cover everything for no deductible and then go after the other guy's insurance. My plan is to take the check and plan to do the repairs over the winter so I am not out all driving season.
