British Embassy Open House – Saturday 12 May 2018 from 10am-4pm – Showcasing Lotus!
Every year the British Embassy opens their doors to the public. Last year, the British Embassy was once again the most popular Embassy, greeting nearly 8,000 members of the public. Access to the Embassy allows visitors to tour the impressive Residence, perfectly manicured gardens and indulge in some British food, art, fashion and music. But of course there’ll also be some impressive cars on display with the likes of McLaren, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar Landrover and LOTUS! Yes Lotus shall be there with a planned 2 Evoras being showcased by Lotus North America, an Elan courtesy of the NOVA Lotus Club and some Lotus wannabe Caterham import from the UK. So if you’re in the DC area and wish to attend, please come armed with camera, water and sun screen (fingers crossed we get the weather). Please note that the gates open at 10:00AM and close promptly at 4:00PM. Entrance lines form quickly, so to minimize wait time please arrive early. Photos from previous year’s Open House can be seen at bit.ly/1AcVw7n. The Embassy address is: · 3100 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20008. For travel options please note that there is no parking at the Embassy so you will need to find a nearby car park / on street parking or travel in using the Metro. You might find parking in the vicinity of Wisconsin and Massachusetts Avenues. If you find parking there, beware of parking restrictions. It is NOT recommended you bring your Lotus to this event! It's a 1.7 mile walk from the Farragut West Metro stop. If you park near Wisconsin and Massachusetts Avenues, it's about a .8 mile walk. Hopefully we will see you there! Let's support Lotus, and this great event at the British Embassy! NOVA Lotus

I would encourage NoVA Lotus members to take the opportunity to attend this event on Saturday, May 12th, 2018. This beautiful embassy is open to the general public from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. I intend to be there early, to beat the crowd. Among the many other interesting things to see, there will be new-car displays from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, and Jaguar/Land Rover. Of course, Lotus is also scheduled to have two new Evoras there (I'm hoping to see a Sport 410, but we will not know what's coming, for sure, beforehand). In addition, representing NoVA Lotus (thanks to our inside guy), Tim and Jenn Glahn will be there, displaying their Elan. Come on out, and support The British Embassy, Lotus, and NoVA Lotus! The British Embassy is located at 3100 Massachusetts Avenue NW in DC. There will be NO PARKING at the embassy, so you need to either park as close as you (legally) can, take Metro and walk, or Uber it. (It is NOT advised to bring your Lotus to park in the area!) --Bob Collum NoVA Lotus

Our 'coordinator' tells me there will be food trucks on-site, selling English Breakfast and Fish & Chips. In addition to Lotus Cars USA being there with a new Evora, we will have representatives from NoVA Lotus, so COME ON DOWN!

Thanks to Gavin, we had a terrific time at the British Embassy Open House today. Victory Lotus of NJ brought a new Evora 400, Gavin had his Caterham 7, Jenn & Tim Glahn drove their Elan, and Tyler and Sara Pepin displayed their Exige. Our cars were set up next to the Aston Martins, and across from a Rolls. Bentley and Jaguar/Land Rover were set up in the courtyard next to ours. The embassy grounds are gorgeous, and they had Revolutionary War re-enactors, some British bobbies in uniform, and Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders and drumline. (Strange tie-in, but the Eagles will be playing a pre-season game in London, later this year.)

Nice shots, Tyler. I know the Bentley race car was provided by Bentley Corporate in Reston - I had lunch with a couple of their reps at the embassy. I'm pretty sure the other Bentleys were from the dealer in Tyson's.

Gavin sent a 'thank you' letter from the embassy, for our participation in their open house:Please note message of thanks from Kate Greer, the Embassy Chief Communication Officer….
Thank you so much for partnering with the British Embassy for Open House Day on Saturday 12 May 2018. We had a record year with over 10,700 guests! That would not have been possible without your support. Grateful if you can please also share this message more widely with those that helped bring all the great Lotus vehicles for Open House Day. You can find photos from the day online: www.flickr.com/photos/ukinusa/albums/72157695121263211More photos of Lotus vehicles at Open House Day is available here: www.dropbox.com/sh/buf19jt1uq7r1s5/AACDAL35OjTy8TFQZ1hLyn0Fa?dl=0We were successful in securing media placement referencing your participation in Open House Day in Men’s Life DC, Greg’s List DC, Flavourful World, Washington Blade and TX Garage. Media Summary During the event, the British Ambassador spoke with local radio station WTOP and The Daily Meal, reaching nearly 900K people. Sinclair Broadcasting filmed the event and distributed video to their 193 local television stations covering 40% of American households. Sinclair also did a Facebook Live session which has been viewed more than 26,000 times. CNN also shared video footage with their affiliate networks. In total, our media output for Open House includes five broadcast segments with NBC4, ABC7, FOX5 and CBS9 (1, 2), as well as pieces in Washington Post (1, 2), the Washingtonian, Men’s Life DC, Greg’s List DC, Flavorful World, Mom the Magnificent, Grapelines, Washington Blade and TX Garage.
