Lotus, Ltd., the national club for Lotus, has a national meet every year. This year, Cleveland is the destination. There are typically well over 100 Lotus cars, and probably close to 250 Lotus enthusiasts at every LOG. There is a reception Friday night, with a causal concours (aka 'beauty contest' for the cars), as well as a panoramic photo taken of all the Lotus cars in attendance, Saturday. The club banquet is held Saturday night, and they typically have very good speakers, that either have a history with working for Lotus, or driving a Lotus. Sunday is autocross and rally - you usually have to pick one, since they are held concurrently. You have to sign up for either, in advance, when you send in your registration. Monday is track day, at Nelson Ledges. I am told this track has been recently been renovated. Again, you have to sign up in advance for track day, and submit your car for inspection. If you are thinking of going to LOG, or if you even think you MIGHT go, it's best to reserve a hotel room. It's a lot of fun to be in the host hotel, where everybody is, and where all the cars are parked. LOG is now such a large event, we often overflow a single hotel. If you have to go to another hotel, you're constantly having to run back to your hotel to change, in between different events. The location of LOG changes every year, since the club relies on local clubs to volunteer to run the event. Next year, the location might not be as close to us. I can't overstate how interesting these events are - Mark Franke went with us to Princeton in 2016, and in a matter of minutes, was introduced to Arnie Johnson, head of Lotus Cars USA, as well as to Bob Dance, who was Lotus F1 mechanic for Jim Clark, Mario Andretti, and many others. Guests at LOG have included Dan Gurney, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Clive Chapman - head of Classic Team Lotus, and son of Colin. www.log38.com/I am happy to answer questions about LOG. I have been to 25 LOGs, and we have friends from all over the US, Canada, and beyond that we only see once a year. --Bob Collum

This year's annual national meet of Lotus, LTD - the national club - will be held in Cleveland, OH, from Friday, August 10th, 2018 thru Monday, August 13th. In order to gauge attendance, the club (as always) has discounts for registering early. If you register by May 10th, the registration fee for LOG is $112. The registration fee increases to $137 after April 10, and goes up further to $187 for registrations after July 10th. If you intend to go, now is the time to register. (And, don't forget to also sign up for your hotel room for the event - it's done directly through the hotel, and the LOG website will point you to links for the hotel.) Here is the link to the club website. You can register online, and join Lotus, LTD on the website - log38.com/You should expect to see in the neighborhood of 150 Lotus cars at this event, with at least 250 Lotus enthusiasts from throughout the US, and beyond. There is an autocross you can sign up for, and also a track day at Nelson Ledges race track. If you have questions about the Lotus Owners Gathering, let me know. Anyone who loves Lotus will have PLENTY to ogle at a LOG. Check the pictures below, from the 2017 LOG in Birmingham, AL. That Elite was fresh from a no-expenses-spared restoration. Just a couple of the large number of Esprits in attendance (all models are represented at a LOG). Check the inscription under the lid of the Elise, from Nick Adams, who was a key Lotus Cars manager during Elise development and production. --Bob Collum

Save $50 on registration for LOG in Cleveland by registering by July 10th, 2018!

LOG 38 major events:
Casual Concours - Saturday, August 11, 2018
Autocross - Sunday, August 12, 2018
Track Day (Nelson Ledges) - Monday, Monday, August 13, 2018
A large part of the appeal of a LOG (besides seeing more Lotus cars in one place than you have ever seen), is the Lotus people. Below is Elise Artioli, in front of our Elise. Yes, the Lotus Elise is named for her. Ms. Artioli's grandfather is Romano Artioli. He was CEO of Lotus (and Bugatti) at the time the Elise was introduced.

Just curious - is anybody here going to Cleveland for LOG? We are driving the Elise up Friday, along with Jeff Eisenstein, in his Elan +2.

LOG 38 in Cleveland was a great time, and NoVA Lotus members were front and center! Jeff Eisenstein, who has moved to Seattle, came back to pick up his Elan +2. Debbie & I drove our Elise to Cleveland, with Jeff in caravan with us. At the LOG Concours, Jeff won 1st place in his class for his Elan +2. NoVA Lotus member Robert Nigmond, from Charlottesville, took first place in the Esprit V8 class.

Phil Mitchell took 3rd place in the Esprit Turbo, '82 - '87, class.
Mark & Leslie Habicht were awarded an honorable mention for their Elise.

Was it a smaller turnout this year? MA could be fun, LOG just always seems to always conflict with my schedule....btw, when do we host?? The LOG turnout was comparable to what we usually see - over 150 Lotus at the concours, as I recall.
If you are interested in participating in a LOG, you'll be intrigued to know that the DC Chapter of Lotus, LTD is looking into bidding on the LOG in 2020. I have personal experience with planning and running a LOG - I ran LOG 15 for the Philadelphia club in the Poconos in 1995. I can tell you that it now takes at least 18 months of work to plan a LOG. It requires a solid core of members who are dedicated to working almost every weekend for 18 months, checking out locations, getting sponsorship, arranging details for the concours, the track day, and all events at the hotel. You have to regularly check in with club management, and manage their expectations.
I can put you in touch with the DC chapter, if you'd like to volunteer with them for 2020.
I'd be happy to talk with anyone who'd like to participate in holding a LOG... but I won't run another.
