Most of you know NoVA Lotus President, Mark Franke. Aside from founding our group, Mark is also a family man. You may have met his wife, Brenda, at one of our events. Mark has two daughters and a son. He is an Emergency Room MD, and works with the Fairfax Fire Department's EMS group. He also heads a Radio Control model airplane club (NOT DRONES!), and has been a mentor to his local high school's robotics team. With all of this going on, you could be forgiven for assuming that he has no extra time, for ANYTHING. Not true.
As you can see below, Mark has started a new phase in his life: Mark has become a pirate! He is still working out how to fit this new role into the rest of his crowded life...
When better weather arrives, when he is not out driving his beloved Esprit, he might be threatening corvettes (or schooners) with a broadside, if they fail to heave-to when ordered.
When you see him at a club event, he gladly responds to calling him 'El Presidente', but we are looking for appropriate pirate names for him! (Move your mouse over the pictures to see them larger size.)
OK, the real story - Mark has had several procedures recently for detached retinas. Afterwards, he has to wear an eyepatch while healing. It's a sign of Mark's good sense of humor, and his many friends, that he has really gotten into the 'pirate' theme!
It's also a running joke we have with Mark, that he does not visit this website as often as he should. I'm betting he won't know anything about this thread until people start addressing him as 'matey', or 'Maaaahhhhrrrrk' at club events.
