Do you like Lotus? Of course you do! How about racing? Autocross? HPDE days? What about motorcycles? Rockets?
This year’s Lotus Owners Gathering, May 19th thru 22nd in Birmingham, Alabama will have all of that – and more. Here’s a roundup of what is scheduled –
Friday, May 19th – Drive your Lotus on the Talladega Superspeedway! 33 degree banks in turns 1 & 2, you can’t believe it as you approach it the first time, at speed. The autocross will also be held at Talladega on Friday.
Saturday, May 20th – The concours coincides with arranging all the Lotus cars for the panoramic photo. There should be about 150 Lotus on the field. The field is located at Barber Motorsports Park, site of a museum containing the largest collection of Lotus cars… in the world. Lots of motorcycles at the museum, as well. The Barber racetrack will host a historic race weekend during LOG, sponsored by the Historic Motor Sports Association.
Sunday, May 21st – A scenic hour-and-a-half drive to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL, for a tour of the facilities.
Monday, May 22nd – Driver Education event, as well as a separate Wet Skidpad Car Control course.
If any of the items above interest you, consider that, in addition to all that, this is a long weekend with a hotel full of people that share your love of all things Lotus, and an opportunity to meet some very important Lotus people from all over the world. Ask anyone who has ever been to a LOG – it’s a GREAT TIME!
