And... representing NoVA Lotus -- taking First Place in the Elise Category... Debbie German!! (I'll confess; we left the banquet when they started the auction, Saturday night -- it was late. We heard we won, when they told us the next night!) --Bob Collum

And, also from LOG... Arnie! For those who don't know, Arnie Johnson was the long-time President of Lotus Cars USA. Arnie passed away in 2021. He was the prime mover in getting the Elise into the US. Arnie was involved in getting a Toyota Celica GTS engine, and having it sent to Hethel, to work on the Elise that could be federalized. Someone made a cardboard cutout of Arnie, and they display it, every year at LOG. --Bob Collum

Debbie and I always keep our eyes peeled for other Lotus cars, on our drives to & from the annual Lotus Owners Gathering (LOG). This year, we left home for the trip to Tennessee around 9:30AM Friday. Barely 10 minutes down 66, I saw a silver or gray Esprit, with a wing, in a rest stop. I did not notice which state license plate it had. Not sure who it was (though, certainly not Atwell Haines). Anybody know who it was? We saw no other Lotus on our trip down, until we got to the hotel parking lot in Knoxville, TN. On the drive home on Monday morning, right before we stopped for fuel & lunch, we passed a couple in a blue Elise, with Massachusetts plates. We traveled together for maybe an hour, before our stop. Always cool to see other Lotus on the road. --Bob Collum

It was great to see other locals in TN! Glad we represented AND with cars!! I had the 3rd fastest "recorded" Lotus time for Sunday's Auto-X only beat by an Evora 400 and a Widebody Turbo Elise. My suspension refresh was well worth it!!! Also, the AC Mods helped greatly but Heat Soak is real!!!! Hope to be able to attend Austin, TX next year. If able, I've found from my previous 10 LOGs, that little cars travel safer in numbers. If a convoy over multiple planned days (weeks) sounds at all interesting, lets keep in touch... I clicked just shy of 174k miles on this trip and planning for many more. David

I used 2020 covid quarantine to rebuild most of my car. I did this for suspension:
Penske NA, anti-sway bar poly bushings & drop links, new inner & outer A-Arm bushings, new tie-rod ends, BWR steering arms, rear toe-link brace, SS brake lines, and an alignment.

Very cool! I also got the Penske NAs from BWR, when my OE shocks were leaking. Unfortunately, I have already had to have them rebuilt. The good news - you can take them to Penske Racing Shocks (in Reading, PA), and they will rebuild them. Because I was having them rebuilt during a period Penske uses to rebuild some race team shocks, it took a couple of weeks, but pretty good service! Your car looks great! --Bob Collum
