Hi Northern VA Lotus fans-
My name is Randy Smith and I drive an '05 Elise/SC and do a bit of racing in the ChampCar series (not in a Lotus!). I'm an HPDE instructor for Summit Point FATT and also teach for some other event sponsors including MBCA (Mercedes Bends Club). I plan to teach at the September 9 FATT and hope that some of you are planning to come as part of LOG 41. Rcollum and KSM have already posted some great information about that event at novalotusclub.freeforums.net/thread/980/summit-point-fatt-sept-2022. KSM also posted a complete list of all the Summit Point FATT events for 2022 and there are several more in September/October if you are interested. The list is here novalotusclub.freeforums.net/thread/961/summit-point-friday-track-schedule. You can sign-up for those events at www.motorsportreg.com/calendar/?country=US&q=Summit+Point+FATT&radius=300. If you look back through the track posts novalotusclub.freeforums.net/thread/768/mbca-gws-shenandoah-track-event?page=1&scrollTo=3392, you will find some references to the MBCA event in 2020 which had a strong Lotus turn-out and was touted as a great time by all! That event is also happening this year and the Lotus Club is again invited. The dates are September 24-25 (and there is still time to sign-up) and it is on the Shenandoah Circuit just like the September 9 event. All of these HPDE events are very much education oriented and are for drivers of all levels including folks who have never been on a track before. You can come either Saturday or Sunday or both and registration is still open at www.motorsportreg.com/events/mbca-gws-2022-shenandoah-circuit-track-event-summit-point-greater-washington-841047. If you are hesitant at all, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to coach you through how to prepare and what to expect. All in all, it's just a lot of fun and an opportunity to learn more about the performance side of your Lotus in a controlled environment (No speed limits and no police!). BTW, there is no admission fee to come out and observe any of these events at Summit Point. Just show up and sign the waiver and you are welcome to come in a watch and mingle with the participants. Hope to see some of you at one or more of these events!
