For the last 21 years, when not playing heavy metal with his band Scattering Ashes, Wayne Burgess has been a designer at Jaguar. He had something to do with every series production Jaguar since the X-Type, and as the brand's Chief Designer and Production Studio Director since 2001, he led projects like the XF, and the post-Ford era's perhaps most important Jaguar, the F-Type. Working closely with Ian Callum, he also directed the design efforts of Special Vehicle Operations, with that team's most recent creation being the mad Project 8.
Back in 2016, Wayne Burgess had this to say about his days at Jaguar:
Yet here we are, less then three years later, wondering what Mr. Burgess will do with Lotus' design efforts, as the new Head of Design and Vice President of Geely Design UK, the Chinese automotive group's new studio in Coventry.
Of course next to Lotus, this new studio will also be responsible for Geely Auto's, Lynk & Co's, Proton's and the London Electric Vehicle Company's (LEVC) lines, under the watchful eyes of Peter Horbury, the Geely Auto Group's Executive Vice President of Design.
For Wayne, working on LEVC's London cabs will be nothing new, since his first role after graduating from Coventry University was Senior Designer at LTI Carbodies (1992 – 1995), who were the makers of the LTI taxis, and the predecessors of the current EV company.
