Another project. This time, my wife's daily, her Chevy Zafira microvan, and it was my first attempt using rattle cans:Chevy Zafira (there's also an Opel version). Nice model; but the wrong color: Disassembly into pieces parts, using a drill in some cases: Stripping off the original paint: Down to the diecast and ready for priming: Homemade paint booth: Primed. Reference photos in background: Trial assembly to check on progress after light top coat: Primer followed by top coat followed by clear. All Tamiya paints: Painted the mirrors by hand (brush): Complete! Could use a little polishing to smooth out the orange peel. I also wound up filing and polishing some of the lights to get them to fit properly: The compare against the real deal! And to sum it up, the before and after:

Last week (end of April), Lotus posted a downloadable PDF template for building a paper "Wet Nellie," Bond's underwater Esprit. www.lotuscars.com/en-US/build-esprit-s1/I just HAD to do it! Template was A4-sized; but I shrunk it and printed it onto 8.5 X 11 photo paper (sturdier than plain paper and shiny): Cut out all the pieces: Tools and a little bit of assembly. Tape was for underneath the front as the tabs kept coming undone. The aluminum strip was used as a hard edge for the folds: Made a stand that just happened to be from the exact aluminum piece I used to draft my Elise's front license plate mount (it was within arm's reach): From a certain angle, the car appears to float: And, of course, it must have the underwater scene: I think it came out well!

A little 1:18 fun with my friend’s E90 M3 (I had intended to paint it), including making the track numbers he used:

New for 2021? Sold individually or part of a pack? Actually a Hot Wheel or some other brand?

New for 2021? Sold individually or part of a pack? Actually a Hot Wheel or some other brand? It's got the Hot Wheels logo embossed on it along with a copyright date of 2014. I don't know how it was originally packaged. I bought it loose from a dealer on eBay. To me, the way that the blue paint came out is unusual for a Hot Wheels car. I like it. It's very nice. I don't see any more blue, but here's a link to a black one for you: www.ebay.com/itm/LOTUS-ESPRIT-S1-RARE-1-64-SCALE-LIMITED-COLLECTIBLE-DIORAMA-DIECAST-MODEL-CAR/324321202586

With finally prepping for the track again, I put on the full-size track vinyl and grabbed a shot with the matching 1:18 track vinyl!

My 1:18 Emira arrived on Saturday (Jan 15, 2022). Pre-ordered this back in August 2021! Looks great and, of course, I had to photograph it:

That is a gorgeous model. TopSpeed. They did a nice job with it. The interior's done well, too, with stitching on the center console, the red start/stop button cover and the center marker on the top of the steering wheel. The tires are slicks. No tread pattern at all. Assuming TopSpeed tends to include tire tread on its models, I'm just guessing it was done before it was decided which factory tires would be on the car (or maybe a licensing issue -- I don't know).

And looking very much forward to seeing the real deal in person.

Here are some shots of the 1:18 Emira interior. Interesting, something I didn't see until the photos, the logo in the steering wheel center's pretty detailed and EMIRA is found at the bottom of the steering wheel. (pardon all the flare -- reflection off the passenger window)

One day, I may do this with my 1:1. Either way, it's a shot that I think rcollum would appreciate.
