So what's planned for the winter, everybody? My biggest thing is to finish the garage remodel (fully refinishing the walls, paint, storing, workbenches, cabinets, etc), finish the cruise control install I started like 6 months ago, and relocate the battery to the firewall, especially since I found an inspection shop that won't notice if I have to remove the evap stuff...

Just plan on building a splitter, fixing the aero mirrors Joe gave me, and fix anything that I find that's broken. No budget for anything this year, I need to save my pennies for track time.

I might finally take the valve cover off and look at the cams. It's been about 15k miles since last checked. I might also finally unbolt the driver's seatbelt and untwist it. Been like that for about 15k miles, too. Don't know how it became twisted; but unbolting seems to be the only way to correct it. Also planning on replacing the hard top headliner. I had been meaning to actually do that during the summer, before I put the hard top back on; but now it's no longer summer and it still needs to be done. I might hook the amp to the sound system back up. Amp bracket (custom bracket in trunk) broke and I didn't feel the need to repair it since the engine provides plenty of music all on its own; but I feel like I should hook it up and at least see if the sound system still works, see if the speaker foam surrounds are still intact what with the speakers not being used for so long. And, of course, I decide to do this after I get a smaller battery that really shouldn't be used to power a sound system. Not that I'm only going to crank up the system while the car's parked in the garage. Anyhow, it's a really nice system and I want to hook it up again just to check it. Once track season starts, I'll probably remove the amp again. It's a honker. And, finally, as I haven't heard a peep from the vendor from which I ordered a Braille battery bracket (say that 10 times fast!), I might just fabricate my own.

ksm if that vendor was RLS, don't hold your breath. Yes. Through RLS. Ordered back on Nov 5. No response at all to multiple inquiries, no update on order since placing it. Just wrote to request that the order be cancelled.

Welp, already off to an inauspicious start, and I shouldn't have expected anything less. After taking the rear clam off, I was just looking everything over and starting to pull out the Evap system when I noticed a loose bolt. Turns out, the alternator was about three threads away from letting go. The second bolt holding it in sheared off awhile back, it seems, and the alternator was just kinda jammed in place. It's a wonder this all held on for as long as it did. Oh, and the part number doesn't quite match anything I can find for the Celica GTS, so there's a chance this wasn't even the OE part. Hurray... Whoa! Good timing for the catch!

RLS was sold a few years ago to a college kid who hasn't done a very good job from what I've seen on LotusTalk. I only ever dealt with the old RLS, but the complaints seem pretty consistent

Yes, dealing with the "old" RLS for me went great as well. Was definitely surprised by the experience this time. Though, now that you mention it, I sort of recall something about RLS going away and coming back. Well, anyhow, I've got a dispute in with my CC company to pull back the funds, which I'll use towards a different solution.

Here's a winter project I finally took care of yesterday: Replaced the bottom weather stripping. Was completely ripped in many places and there were large gaps. Got tired of chasing out the mice and snakes. This should help against the cold blowing in, too.

Did anyone do any shopping for their cars on Black Friday? I stayed strong and did not! First time for everything I guess!

Did anyone do any shopping for their cars on Black Friday? I stayed strong and did not! First time for everything I guess! Nupe. Trying to focus on just getting everything routed more cleanly and polished. I think I pretty much have everything fixed that needs it (other than the stupid alternator), so I am just finishing projects I already started or have parts for.

Winter projects you say? I have a list of things I need to take care of:
1. Install the new seats 2. unf**k my harneses 3. install my sys6pak 4. replace my rear brake pads 5. replace my rear rotors 6. re-route a couple of cables for the logger 7. install an oil pressure guage 8. check all the suspension bits
I'm sure there's other stuff that I need to do.

I'm going to need new harnesses, too, before any track days since mine expired in August. Had a pipe freeze in the kitchen this past weekend; it didn't burst but now the list of annoyances is getting long enough that a new kitchen remodel may be in the cards. In that case, money for fun stuff will be scarce...
In the meantime, I made a battery bracket to relocate the battery to the firewall near the radiator. I made it first with some plastic and ordered some aluminum strip that should arrive soon. Once I get that done and the wires routed, I'll start putting everything back together and hopefully will be ready to a late-winter drive!

Expired harnesses don't matter actually. They are totally fine so long as there's no physical damage to them.
Sucks to have the house soak up so much of your time and money, but it's worth it. I'm jealous at least.
Here's the update to my list, anyone want to finish it for me? 1. Install the new seats Modify passenger rail to install seat
2. unf**k my harneses
3. install my sys6pak
4. replace my rear brake pads
5. replace my rear rotors
6. re-route a couple of cables for the logger
7. install an oil pressure guage
8. check all the suspension bits 9. Fix under panel and diffuser 10 Check alignment 11. install camber shims as needed
