I just changed my oil. I struggled more than previous times to put the bottom shear panel on this time. Whoever designed that is a sadistic SOB. (This only works if you have the car's tires up on ramps, not jack stands.) I put my jack at the rear to hold up the panel close to the car and then went under the side to slide the front of the panel into the groove. Then I raised the jack until the panel was in position and started putting in the screws. I hope this can help someone.

Makes things so much easier and so less frustrating. One thing about the jack -- and maybe you do this, too -- I use a jack saddle cover (in my case, the same hockey puck that I use for jacking up the car itself) so as to minimize scratching.

That's how I do it, too, when I can't recruit help. A second set of hands makes it soooo much easier. Heck, last weekend another Nova Lotus and I were looking at his car, and apparently even the guys at the Toyota dealership couldn't be bothered to do it right, so it wasn't even in the front groove at all. Another trick is also to use either 1/4 turn fasteners (a major pain to install) or an electric screwdriver with a socket bit. That helps make really short work of it all.
And to be more accurate, this is the undertray. The shear panel is the swiss cheese looking piece between the undertray and the fuel tank.
